A website developed for those looking to cheat on their significant other says St. John’s has among the highest number of cheaters in the country.

Data released by the popular cheating website Ashley Madison shows that since the pandemic began St. John’s has moved into second place behind Victoria, BC in the number of member signups.

Grande Prairie, Alberta is in third place, while North Vancouver, BC and Kamloops, BC come in fourth and fifth place respectively.

Site Notes Increase in Sign-Ups During Pandemic

Chief Strategy Officer Paul Keable says the site would normally see about 15,500 signups a day, but since the pandemic, that number has jumped to 18,000 a day.

That’s not surprising Keable says given the current circumstances. He says people are locked down at home with their spouse or partner and whatever fractures they have in their relationship are being exposed and amplified. He says people are now looking for an outlet to relieve their tension and stress.

Keable says the highest number of accounts are among 30 to 40-year-olds, along with first-time parents and empty-nesters.
