Frustrated fish harvesters gathered outside the FFAW Union Building on Hamilton Avenue, Tuesday, for the second time in four days.
Over 100 people showed up, looking for answers from the union about crab prices they say are too low, catch limits imposed on harvesters, and safety concerns surrounding the reopening of the crab fishery.
Ronnie Bidgood, a fish harvester from Petty Harbour, accuses the Association of Seafood Producers of breaking the bargaining agreement by imposing catch limits on harvesters.
He says the ASP is “playing a game” with harvesters to get product for “nothing.” He says the onus is on the fisheries union to take the matter to court now that the bargaining agreement has been broken.
