With the Victoria Day long weekend around the corner, the province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health is offering further clarity on the easing of restrictions on formal gatherings.
No new cases are reported in the province again today. 10,152 people have been tested, and of the province’s 261 total number of cases, 247 have recovered. The last new cases in the province were reported last Thursday.
Moving into Alert Level 4 this week means gatherings of up to ten people are now permitted, but Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says the allowance is very specific.
Gatherings like funerals, burials, weddings can go ahead as well as essential workplace-related certification and training. Food and beverages cannot be provided, and tissues, wastebaskets, and hand hygiene stations must be available. Those who are sick cannot attend, and participants must practice social distancing.
Dr. Fitzgerald says activities involving people within your double bubble are encouraged, but residents are discouraged from any activities that put you in physical proximity to people outside that bubble.
