The health care system is gradually resuming some services after being significantly reduced over the past two months.
Medical imaging, endoscopy, cardiac diagnostic, and surgical services have been identified as areas that can gradually and safely begin to resume.
Dr. Larry Alteen, vice-president of medical services with Eastern Health, says services will initially resume slowly so that the system can adapt quickly to care for patients in case of a spike or second wave of COVID-19.
Processes are in place to protect patients, all of whom will be screened through a series of questions and be provided a mask.
Patients who are identified for high priority by their physician will be contacted directly by physicians’ offices to have their appointments rescheduled. Anyone with questions or concerns should contact their health care provider.
