One of the adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic has been on food security, leaving many at-risk youth wondering where their next meal is coming from.
Artforce, an organization that helps at-risk populations, is helping to mitigate that problem.
According to Executive Director Gemma Hickey, many people who would usually make use of food banks in the city are now afraid to go line up for the service because of the coronavirus.
They partnered with two local restaurants—Terre and Merchant Tavern—to help deliver meals to the doorsteps of people who need it.
Hickey says many of the people they are helping were already facing barriers without the added strain of the pandemic
They want to lessen that burden by providing a treat like a meal from a high-end restaurant.
