Parks in the capital city opened on Monday much to the delight of residents, but it didn’t take long for people to break the rules.
St. John’s Mayor Danny Breen says people were gathering in groups and were told by staff to move along.
He is warning that if people are careless and don’t follow social distancing rules, they won’t hesitate to close the parks down.
Mayor Breen says he hopes everyone follows the rules so people can get out and enjoy some fresh air.
He says parks are open for walks, riding a bike, scooters, etc., but not for picnics or congregating in groups.
Mayor Breen says hammocks, playing ball, or Frisbee, are not permitted.
