The Air Line Pilots Association International has filed an unfair labour practice against PAL Aerospace over what it calls anti-union behaviour.
The association, also known as ALPA, accuses PAL Aerospace management of interfering with the association’s attempts to organize an employee group. This affected the pilots’ attempt to organize.
ALPA proceeded to file membership cards on behalf of 62 pilots at PAL with the Canada Industrial Relations Board seeking certification to represent them.
ALPA alleges PAL is on a campaign of misinformation and interference designed to create fear of unionizing among pilots.
Association president Joe DePete says this has negatively influenced a fair and professional union campaign. The union says employees have rights to allow them to freely choose to join a union.
