Today is World Oceans Day but cleanups and learning events will have to be done virtually or with house bubbles instead of with large groups or learning centres.
Kiley Best is chair of the board for the Petty Harbour Mini Aquarium says they’ve put resources online for those who want to take part.
She says it’s a great time to pick up some junk if you see it along the coast or do a tide walk if the tide is low—those who are interested can check out their website for tips and advice on how to do those activities safely as well as ideal locations to check out.
While the Mini Aquarium has yet to know when they’ll be allowed to reopen, Best says aside from waiting for government approval, they’re watching how other aquariums reopen and learning from their process before they open their doors to the public.
