The minority provincial government is going to need to have a budget by the end of summer or face a risky vote in the Legislature.
The NDP sided with government a few months ago to bring in Interim Supply for six months, but the tap runs dry on September 30.
Leader Alison Coffin has no intention of going along with an extension to Interim Supply, and neither does the PC Opposition.

With the House split 20-20, that would leave it up to the two Independents, Paul Lane and Eddie Joyce. The Speaker, Liberal MHA Scott Reid, votes only in the event of a tie.
Premier Dwight Ball is committed to providing a fiscal update prior to leaving office August 3, and Finance Minister Tom Osborne is virtually certain that he will bring down a budget in time.
He guarantees a budget before the end of September barring something unforeseen.
