The FFAW is calling on the provincial government to provide details on the support programs for fish harvesters announced on May 14th.
FFAW President Keith Sullivan says that Justin Trudeau promised a $10,000 non-repayable grant for enterprise owners unable to apply for CEBA (Canada Emergency Business Account) as well as adjustments to EI based on last year’s earning.
Sullivan says many fish harvesters have experienced significant drops in their income this year, and have been given no indication of how or when these changes will be implemented.
Sullivan says short term support through this pandemic is critical for thousands of harvesters and their families.
