The provincial government has embarked on a measure to make provincial roads leading to and from schools safer.
Ten digital speed signs have been installed since early this week with the objective being 165 signs in 81 school zones by the end of August.
Transportation and Works Minister Steve Crocker says the signs are similar to the ones seen in school zones in municipalities.
He says in addition to showing speed and issuing a warning, the digital signs display a second flashing message to motorists traveling in excess of 10 km/h above the speed limit.
