Active families make active children.
That’s from T.A. Loeffler, a professor of outdoor activity at MUN, who was responding to the Participaction report card which says that only 39 per cent of Canadian children are meeting daily activity guidelines.
Loffler notes that COVID-19 restrictions have led to an even further decline in physical activity.
She says that to encourage children to be active, they need active role models.
One statistic in the study shows that for every 20 minutes children see a role model being active, their own activity increases by five minutes.
