The mayor of an island community on the northeast coast can’t understand why they are still on the COVID-19 service schedule instead of the summer one.
Wilson Slade, the mayor of Lushes Bight-Beaumont, says other places served by the intra-provincial service are enjoying the summer schedule, but not them.
The town submitted a proposal to the provincial government weeks ago but has not heard back.
They currently have four trips a day but have proposed six including the final trip at 8:30 p.m.
That trip currently leaves Long Island at 6:30 p.m.
Mayor Slade says a lot of people are choosing not to go to Long Island because of the reduced ferry service.
