A big mea culpa today from the President of Memorial University after she tweeted out a video this week casting a line from a boat with no life jacket on.
Vianne Timmons is touring the province, visiting various facilities associated with Memorial University.
Earlier this week, Timmons, who has a very active Twitter account, posted a video while out casting a line on the water.
With Joe Dicks salmon fishing on the Humber River. ?@grenfellcampus? wants me to experience everything while I am here. Joe is a graduate of ?@MemorialU? #talesfromtheroadMUN pic.twitter.com/95ALOYQJpV

The public was quick to respond, and while Timmons says the water on which she was fishing was no more than four feet deep, she’s learned an important lesson.
She expects she’ll be out on the water again during her trip, and she will definitely be wearing a life jacket.
In the meantime, Timmons says her journey thus far has been eye-opening, and she’s been amazed at the scope of work in which Memorial University is involved across the province.
Beautiful cool evening! One more day here in Corner Brook this trip! Love ?@grenfellcampus? and the amazing hospitality. I did not catch any fish by the way! ?@MemorialU? pic.twitter.com/bTbmGsX9KK
