Weather extremes abound across the province over the past couple of days with heavy rain and cold in the east and sweltering heat in the north.
St. John’s International Airport set a single-day rainfall record for July 15 with nearly 60 mm. It’s still raining on the Avalon but not as heavily.
David Neal, a meteorologist with Environment Canada in Gander, says the low-pressure system dominating the weather has moved away from most areas of the island but will continue to bring spring-like weather to the Avalon. Skies will clear this weekend with temperatures rebounding by Sunday.
Neal says we’ll have another dose of summer weather next week with temperatures 20-plus.
