A local pub in downtown St. John’s has been struck by vandalism for the second time this year.
Niall Hickey, co-owner of the Newfoundland Embassy, says their Union Jack flag was stolen on Sunday night and he is not sure why.
The flag and the pole were ripped down, but Hickey says that their pride flag was ripped down before the pandemic. He describes the vandalism as strange.
Hickey says that besides this incident, the support their pub has received in such uncertain times is amazing.
He says Water Street opening up for the pedestrian mall has been wonderful for them even though they are located on New Gower. Hickey says they get a lot of pedestrian traffic.
