A St. John’s lawyer says recent privacy breaches at Central Health have a “chilling component.”

He’s not providing detail at this time, but Bob Buckingham is concerned with an apparent pattern emerging related to a recent privacy breach at Central Health.

Buckingham and Eli Baker Law will be launching a class action lawsuit against the health authority for the privacy breach which involved over 200 patients.

Central Health indicated this week that the person involved is no longer with the health authority, and offered its apologies to affected patients.

Buckingham says he’s already been contacted by more than a dozen people affected. He says they need to do a little more investigation, but the details will be revealed once the lawsuit is filed in the next week or two.

Buckingham indicates there are some nuances and difficulties surrounding the lawsuit.
