The President of the Federation of Labour admits she was taken aback by the tone of a recent ipolitics article that suggests Andrew Furey intends to take a tough stand on getting spending under control.
Furey was quick to clarify, saying he is not looking at mass layoffs as a way to curb the province’s debt.
Mary Shortall says she met with Furey during his campaign and says the tone of the article took her off-guard.
She describes it as “gloves off” but points out there is a collective bargaining process that must be respected.
