When a local LEGO enthusiast started building a replica of Cabot Tower six months ago, he did not realize the traction it would get online.
President of Newfound LUG (LEGO User Group), Stephen Churchill says he wanted to replicate something local, so he chose the 122-year-old tower situated on Signal Hill.
He says one of the challenges was that Cabot Tower is not perfectly square—but once he had it all planned, there was no turning back.
Over 3,000 pieces and 50 or 60 hours later, the creation was complete for Churchill to bring to Signal Hill for a photo shoot.
Churchill is not the only person who creates replicas and other creations from LEGO in the province. He says there is a group of adults who communicate to challenge one another and share their passion. Their group is accepting new participants. For more information, visit their Facebook group.
