Ocean Choice International is in the early stages of a proposed development off Terminal Road in the Long Pond area of Conception Bay South.
The proposal could see the development of new land, a 90-metre wharf, and the possible construction of a new cold storage facility.
OCI says a business plan for the project is still being finalized and the company has not made a decision to proceed. However, the arrival of their new vessel—the MV Calvert—will mean they can harvest more of their quotas, such as yellowtail and redfish, requiring more storage.
President Blaine Sullivan tells VOCM News Long Pond Harbour is the ideal location, because it’s centralized with convenient access to shipping routes and support services.
The company says it understands the importance of the area and it is committed to working with various stakeholders to ensure that if they do move forward, they do so in a way that supports the overall development of the area.
