The Construction Labour Relations Association is encouraging immediate action by Ottawa in supporting the province’s oil and gas industry.

The association has written federal Natural Resources Minister Seamus O’Regan to express its concern about the future of local oil and gas projects.

President Terry French says the local oil and gas industry is in “crisis.”

The association represents unionized employers engaged in the industrial, commercial and institutional sectors of the construction industry.

He says they’re gravely concerned that without federal government investment, the impact on the local economy, and the skilled labour force will be devastating.
