Soggy days are on the way for a good chunk of the island. An extended period of rain, at times heavy, is expected. It starts tomorrow night and continues right through to Saturday morning. The heaviest rain on the Avalon will be during the second half of Friday.
An elongated trough of low pressure will draw tropical moisture from the south and stall somewhere over eastern Newfoundland from Thursday night into Saturday before moving away to the east.
Special weather statements by Environment Canada are out for the region from Gander to St. John’s as well as the south coast from Ramea to the Burin Peninsula.
Fifty to 100 mm of rain could fall.
