Bye-bye, Beaumont.
Fans of Newfoundland Power’s NestCAM may have noticed that the seasonal home of Beaumont, the osprey, has been recently vacated as the bird heads south for the winter.
The company hosts a 24/7 live stream of the osprey’s nest at the power substation off Snow’s Lane in St. John’s.
Each year, the osprey returns and attempts to find a mate. This year, Beaumont partnered with another osprey dubbed Hope by Newfoundland Power; they had two chicks hatch in July.
However, as cold weather starts to creep in, Beaumont and Hope vacated the nest to seek a warmer climate. Newfoundland Power says they look forward to turning the NestCam back on when the osprey return next year.
