These are exciting days in Greenspond, Bonavista North.
After years of lobbying, restoration work on the iconic and historic courthouse is well underway.
Just over a year ago, things weren’t looking very promising for the structure, which was starting to show its age after 120 years.
Linda White of the Greenspond Historical Society says thanks to $200,000 dollars in ACOA funding and another $61,000 dollars from the provincial government, needed work is now being done on the structure.
The project involves exterior renovations as well as plumbing and electrical upgrades.
Greenspond Today! Court House restoration continues. That's the dome or tower on the ground! Again thanks to ACOA and @JustinTrudeau @FureyAndrew @DerrickBragg @ChurenceRogers for the money and @LindaSwainVOCM @vocmhart and others for the coverage over the years as we lobbied … pic.twitter.com/su76FIAXD4
