The province will formally sign the agreement for $320-million for the province’s offshore today.
The agreement is being cautiously applauded by industry stakeholders, who now want to see exactly how the task force will recommend the money be spent.
Provincial Opposition Leader Ches Crosbie is critical of the deal.
Crosbie says people right now want “jobs, jobs, and more jobs” and that this announcement won’t deliver that any time soon.
Speaking specifically about Husky and West White Rose, Crosbie blasted the fact that there was no specific mention of that project in the announcement. He says if we put that public money into West White Rose, we would see immediate returns on jobs and economic activity.
