Four former officers, including the president, have been expelled from Local 2330 of the IBEW in Holyrood.
Current Vice-president Kevin Slaney, who will become acting president, says the four were ordered to pay back about $2.2-million to the local.
He says they’ve been saying for 20 years that there has been a great deal of negligence on behalf of the international office here.
Slaney says no one wanted to listen to them and the union had a responsibility to perform checks and balances.
The order came following an internal disciplinary process. The matter has now been forwarded to the RCMP for investigation.
Two other officers with local were also subject to the disciplinary process and found guilty. One was fined $100 while the other received no fine.
