The process involving international students coming into the province to study at Memorial University has been more streamlined.
International students have been able to come in to attend university throughout the pandemic, but the process was a difficult one.
That process has since been streamlined, with improved quarantine plans and greater clarification provided to students.
Sonja Knutson is the Director of the Internationalization Office at Memorial University.
She says MUN is now on the federal government’s list of designated learning institutions after learning in July that Ottawa was moving to a more systematic approach.
They began working with public health officials and the department of education looking at every aspect of their plan involving the arrival of the student, their transportation to campus, 14-day quarantine measures and testing. The plan was then taken to Public Health Canada for approval.
