It’s going to be a wild start to the workweek for most of the island and parts of Labrador.
Wind warnings are out for most of the island and southeastern Labrador for this afternoon and tonight. Winds will top 100 km/h in most coastal areas including metro. The Wreckhouse will see numbers in the 130-km/h range.
Mike Vandenburgh, a meteorologist at the Gander Weather Office, says some Halloween decorations could go airborne.
It’s also going to be very wet with 40-50 mm expected along the southern strip of the island.
There is a rainfall warning out for the Southern Avalon of 40-50 mm expected, but about 25 for metro and the rest of the Avalon. The winds will ease overnight.
Marine Atlantic and the Labrador ferry have cancelled all runs today.
