The Town of La Scie was holding an emergency meeting Sunday to discuss next steps after fire gutted a key structure in the town.
The fire broke out early Saturday morning and the cause remains under investigation. No one was injured.
Ironically, the building houses the town’s fire hall as well as the local ambulance service, council chambers, a clubhouse for kids and a library.
The meeting was called to discuss how to continue to provide services disrupted by the fire, including where to house emergency vehicles and equipment. Council will temporarily hold its meetings in the multi-purpose room at the local arena.
On Saturday, Central Health advised that due to the fire, emergency calls were being redirected. Calls should go to 911, which will then be redirected to the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre.
