The Town of Gander is hosting members of the United States Navy this month.
But health officials are going to great lengths to reassure the public that all proper precautions are being taken to keep the risk associated with COVID-19 low.
They say all of the U.S. personnel had negative COVID test results prior to their arrival on Monday, and when they’re not at the 9 Wing base they’ll be isolated in their rooms at a designated hotel.
Officials also say there will be no other travel or interaction with the public, adding the US members will use Canadian military vehicles to move through town.
There’s no word on the number of Americans who have arrived or exactly when they are scheduled to leave.
