Less than a week after it reopened to the public, the La Scie Public Library has halted all operations indefinitely.
It’s just one of several services that were thrust onto uncertain ground after the town’s municipal building caught fire Saturday morning.
After an extended period on hold due to COVID-19, the library resumed its in-house services last Tuesday. However, those plans have ground to a halt as smoke damage is believed to have rendered its resources unusable.
While it’s unclear how operations will eventually resume, Newfoundland and Labrador Public Libraries have reached out with an offer of support to the community.
They’re encouraging residents to make use of the library in Baie Verte, or consider borrowing books through a mail service being offered to those in La Scie.
NL Public Libraries is asking people if they have any recently published books in good condition, and/or NL titles that you’d like to donate to the La Scie Public Library you can drop them off at your local NL public library branch.
For information on the books by mail service contact (709) 651-5353. For questions about book donations contact your local library.
Newfoundland and Labrador Public Libraries would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to the firefighters and all…
