While many Canadians were watching the results of the United States Presidential Election last week as a matter of curiosity, some in Atlantic Canada had a much more tangible stake in the results.
Atlantic Lottery says $463,000 in Pro-Line wagers were made on the outcome of the race, with sales being 15 per cent higher than that of the 2016 race.
They say 59 per cent of the wagers were placed on a Joe Biden victory, while 66 per cent bet that Donald Trump would take the popular vote.
Scott Eagles, Manager of Sports Betting at Atlantic Lotto, says the election brought in more sales than any other single event in their history, with the sole exception being the Super Bowl.
Atlantic Lottery does not allow betting on Canadian elections.
