The Genesis Centre is a big beneficiary of a recent multi-billion dollar deal by Nasdaq to purchase St. John’s-based Verafin.

Verafin got its start through Memorial University’s Genesis Centre, which will receive US$1-million in a research and development partnership project.

President and CEO of the Genesis Centre, Michelle Simms, calls it “super exciting” as seeing the Genesis Centre included in the Nasdaq release was a “shocker.”

While they don’t know the full details of the announcement, the money will go a long way.

She says it’s exciting to hear there will be an ongoing opportunity with Nasdaq to support technology companies in this province.
