A popular St. John’s sports bar has closed its doors, at least temporarily, following possible exposure to COVID-19.
Management with The Bigs restaurant on Freshwater Road said they learned late Saturday that a person who tested positive after returning from Nova Scotia was a customer at the location last Monday, November 16th.
On Friday, it was confirmed that a man in his 20s in the Eastern Health region had tested positive after returning from Nova Scotia.
The restaurant is closing at least until test results come back for a staff member who was in close contact with the man. If the test comes back positive, they’ll remain closed and all staff will have to isolate for 14 days.
They say COVID tests would then be required of all staff before they come back to work.
Staff from the Freshwater Road restaurant do not work at The Bigs location in Mount Pearl.
