Enforcement officers are being reintroduced at the Labrador-Quebec border in the Strait of Belle Isle.
The provincial government says area residents can still go to the airport and ferry terminal without having to prove it’s essential travel. Premier Andrew Furey provided the update yesterday.
Newfoundlanders and Labradorians must travel to Blanc Sablon, Quebec in order to cross the Straits by ferry.
Meanwhile, the government says there is no change for Lab City, Wabush or Fermont, as measures in those areas have proven effective.
Enforcement officers are already on duty screening people on the Lab West-Fermont border on a 24-hour basis.
