A man Opposition Leader Ches Crosbie calls a “titan of the Newfoundland and Labrador business community” has passed away.
Crosbie describes Frank Ryan as a special friend to both the PC Party and to his family personally. Ryan was John Crosbie’s campaign manager when Crosbie nearly won the federal PC Leadership back in 1983.
Ryan was intertwined with the history of the province says Crosbie, from politics to business and philanthropy.
MP Seamus O’Regan who lost his own father only two weeks ago says Ryan and Seamus O’Regan Senior were great friends.
Frank Ryan,
my father’s closest friend,
his best man
and my godfather,
passed away today. What a loss to @Lynnburry, his family and to all who knew him.
What a loss to this Province, which he loved so much.
He left his mark.
May he Rest In Peace. pic.twitter.com/rfR6vI0cnx— Seamus O'Regan (@SeamusORegan) December 4, 2020
In fact, O’Regan says it’s rare to see two friends who were closer than Ryan and his father. He says fondly that he’d like to think that “somewhere, the Lambs is flowing freely and they don’t have to worry about their sugars.”
Frank Ryan leaves to mourn a large circle of family and friends including his wife Lynn Burry.
