Big news for a local retailer. Pipers has announced that it plans to open a new location in Mount Pearl in the coming year.
Chief Operating Officer, Glen Skinner says the new store—set to open in the spring of 2021—is expected to employ 25 to 30 people.
The Newfoundland-owned department store currently employs more than 150 people in five locations in St. John’s, Bay Roberts, and Kelligrews.
Its previous Mount Pearl location operated for 36 years before it closed last year due to leasing and building issues.
A sod-turning ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 at the location of the old MAX Athletics site at 1 Olympic Drive.
