Rapid testing kits are being deployed to Harbour Breton as public health officials continue to search for the source of two cases announced last Saturday.
The cases involve two staff members at the local health clinic. Public Health officials say with no known source, they have to assume they are linked to an unknown case.
Health Minister Dr. John Haggie says around 1,000 rapid test kits have been sent to Harbour Breton. Training will take place today and they will be available to residents at the start of the day tomorrow.
The health minister notes the criteria for who can be tested will be enlarged, and through use of the ID Now system, they’re hoping the tests will clarify the situation.
Starting today, Central Health is encouraging all residents of Harbour Breton to get tested for COVID-19 with or without symptoms.
Starting Dec 10, residents of Harbour Breton, with or without symptoms, are encouraged to contact 811 and arrange testing for COVID-19. Please follow public health measures including wearing masks, staying home as much as possible and avoid holding gatherings for the time being.
