A flatbed truck with chemical tanks overturned on Water Street East and Cochrane Street at around 8:00 this morning.
The truck attempted a left hand turn onto Water street from Cochrane Street when the flatbed tipped. The incident occurred near Hill O’ Chips at the Harvey’s Pier.

Water Street was closed down for some time.
Fire crews say a corrosive chemical spilled, causing an odour in the area. The spill was contained before it entered the nearby storm drain.

The truck was turned upright by a crane, and clean up has begun. The driver of the truck was uninjured.
People are asked to stay away from the area.
