A new poll shows that many Newfoundlanders and Labradorians asked want a plan to restructure the way government provides programs and services.
The survey, conducted by Narrative Research, shows that 68 per cent of those asked support restructuring delivery of government services to prevent duplication within a one hour drive, while nine per cent are opposed.
68 per cent of those asked support the idea of more publicly funded, privately run health clinics and diagnostic testing centres, while 18 per cent are opposed.
61 per cent of those asked support cuts to the size of the public service through attrition, while 57 per cent support a reorganization of the public sector to match current need and population distribution including the possibility of layoffs or relocation of staff.
Employers’ Council Executive Director, Richard Alexander says the public wants a credible and well thought out plan that considers all options.
The poll randomly surveyed 400 adults 18 plus across the province. Overall results are accurate to within plus or minus 4.9 percentage points, 95 times out of 100.
