Long waits and backlogs have been reported at various COVID-19 testing sites since the spike in cases last week, but the province’s health minister says staff are working on the problem.
One of the big issues involves people showing up to be tested without an appointment.
Health Minister John Haggie says a scheduling system was put in place to reduce backlogs and make sure testing was available for those who needed it the soonest but he does admit more work needs to be done.
Haggie explains that Eastern Health has explored the idea of having some sort of crowd control in place.
He says they haven’t gotten it right yet but they are working on it.
