There are 60 newly-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the province today, all within the Eastern Health region.
- 11 under 20 years of age;
- 18 between 20-39 years of age;
- 16 between 40-49 years of age;
- 7 between 50-59 years of age;
- 6 between 60-69 years of age; and,
- 2 over 70 years of age.
Nine new presumptive cases have been identified as well. Thirty-four out of today’s 60 confirmed cases were previously identified as presumptive cases.
Another 23 people have recovered since yesterday’s update. Two people remain in hospital due to the virus.
The province is now two weeks into the latest significant outbreak of the virus, which has more than doubled the total number of positive cases in Newfoundland and Labrador since the start of the pandemic.
Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says while many people will exit their self-isolation this weekend, life outside isolation may not look much different.
She reminds everyone, no matter if they’ve received a negative test result, to still adhere to public health restrictions and take steps to curb the spread of the virus.
Over 3,000 people have been tested since yesterday, bringing the provincial total above 103,000.
