People are being encouraged to get outside this weekend in support of Choices for Youth.
Today is the annual Coldest Night of the Year walk. Typically, people would gather in droves for the fundraiser, which supports vulnerable youth in the community. However, this year that is not possible due to the pandemic. Instead, a virtual walk is being held. People are still encouraged to get outside and face the cold Newfoundland winter weather within their bubbles.
The pandemic has lead to an increased demand for services.
Executive director Sheldon Pollett says there’s no doubt people in the province are struggling, and doing the Coldest Night walk is a great way to show support and raise funds for people who need it.
The organisation has set a goal of $48,000. Donations can be made on the Choices for Youth website.
