Self-isolation has been extended for a number of families connected to the Mount Pearl Senior High cluster after secondary testing confirmed further spread of one of the COVID variations.
Last week Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Janice Fitzgerald confirmed that a lot of the new confirmed cases involved spread to family members within the same household.
Late last week, Public Health officials issued an advisory to families associated with the outbreak to get a second round of testing before their isolation was complete to identify potential spread within a household.
Less than two weeks ago Nancy Churchill, her husband Darren and two daughters were relieved to receive negative COVID-19 test results after her oldest daughter, Lia, was exposed to the virus on February 7th.
Churchill says her two children and husband Darren started experiencing symptoms nearing the end of their isolation period and have now tested positive.
She says all the family members are sectioned off and so far are only experiencing cold-like symptoms.
