A private school in the metro region says they have seen increased interest in their programs amid pandemic lockdowns.
St. Bonaventure’s College is a private school in the capital city.
President Stephen Handrigan says St. Bons was one of the first schools to pivot to online learning last March, making the transition back to Alert Level 5 very smooth.
He explains that teachers at the school did personal development last summer to improve online teaching skills and that students are currently getting full days of virtual instruction.
Handrigan says their approach to online teaching has resulted in more interest in enrolment.
He reveals that many kids from the public school system signed up last spring specifically because of their approach to online learning. Registration for the fall is now open, and he says they are seeing more interest.
To help address financial barriers to enrolment, the school has set up a bursary program.
