A patient who contracted COVID-19 at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital is speaking publicly about her experience.
The woman was a patient on unit 6 East when Eastern Health announced on February 10th that an employee there had tested positive.
VOCM News spoke with the woman, who asked that we not use her name for privacy reasons.
She says it was hard to hear that she got the virus in hospital, especially after just having surgery.
She says it was very disappointing to learn she had contracted the virus in hospital, given how careful she had been in the days leading up to her surgery and the fact that she tested positive after the operation made her more nervous.
The woman says she has some fatigue and chest congestion but is otherwise doing OK. She’s been isolating and recuperating at home with the help of her husband, who has so far tested negative.
