Two local entrepreneurs are expressing gratitude to another local company following a gesture of kindness that came when it was needed most.
At a time when Alert Level 5 COVID-19 restrictions are causing many companies to downsize operations, Fouad Matar and Jeremy Meade are seeing growth from their grocery delivery company, Zipp Cart.
During the onset of the pandemic, last year, the two noticed the high demand for a safe, contactless way to get essentials like food and began building their business model.
When the second wave of COVID-19 struck the province, Zipp Cart saw a substantial increase in customer orders overnight and Matar says, the bump could have threatened to slow delivery times.
That’s when Marie Hickey of Bruce and Da By’s Movers in Mount Pearl offered to help. Meade says Hickey was availing of the Zipp Cart service when she saw an opportunity to offer support.
Meade says Bruce and Da By’s have helped them out a tremendous amount. He recalls how Hickey, who is a customer of Zipp Cart, got in touch when orders really ramped up and offered up their moving vans. The partnership has allowed them to better serve their clients in the St John’s and Mount Pearl area.
Meade explains how Zipp Cart shoppers can now load up several orders onto a moving van for greater efficiency.
