The pandemic has had a devastating impact on families whose loved ones are nearing the end of life.
At least one woman has shared the heartache and frustration public health measures—in place to prevent spread of the COVID variant— is having on families with a sick or dying loved one.
Rhonda Kearney called VOCM Open Line this morning with her heartbreaking story. She received an exemption to come home and says she is satisfied with having to stay in quarantine for two weeks, but she’s devastated that current protocols may keep her from seeing her father, even when her quarantine period is over.
She told VOCM Open Line they fought to allow one family member in to be with her father, but the rest of the family is not allowed in to see him.
Kearney asks if doctors, nurses and other hospital staff can go to work, go home, get gas, buy groceries, engage with their families and come back to work, then “why can’t the same opportunity be provided to the families of sick and dying patients?”
