More patients and staff in Unit 6 East as St. Clare’s have tested positive for COVID-19.
Re-testing last night and this morning turned up additional positive results, so Eastern Health is going to test all patients and staff at the hospital.
CEO Dave Diamond categorizes it as a ‘small outbreak,’ which he believes is confined to that particular unit.
Patients who have tested positive have been transferred to the COVID unit at the Health Sciences Centre.

The testing site at the Reid Centre in Mount Pearl, which had been gradually slowing down, will be ramped up to accommodate the testing for St. Clare’s.
Diamond says the number of positives at the hospital is fewer than 10.
