The Tories are getting their legal ducks in a row on the off chance they want to challenge the legitimacy of the provincial election.
PC Leader Ches Crosbie told reporters yesterday he’ll wait until after the election to make that call. But he admits they’re documenting what he calls “numerous inconsistencies” that could form the basis of such a challenge.
Crosbie says they’re collecting complaints and evidence of inadequacies and irregularities in case they “have” to go to court after the election. He says that includes having lawyers keep an eye on the situation.
Crosbie says so far that evidence includes the disconnect between filing online and calling in the information, adding in some cases people have not been asked for identification.
He also questions whether it’s right for votes to start being counted while people are still voting.
Meanwhile, Elections NL has confirmed that they will not be able to translate ballot information into Indigenous languages in time for the election.
